On 8 October 2021, while performing the work of the National Mechanism for the Prevention of Torture (NPM), the team of the Protector of Citizens supervised the forced removal of a citizen of the Republic of Turkey. He spent several days in the Shelter for Foreigners in Padinska Skela, from where he was taken to the Belgrade "Nikola Tesla" Airport and returned by plane to his home country.
Data on the treatment of the foreigner were obtained from the police officers, the documentation kept about him in the Shelter was inspected and an unsupervised conversation was conducted with him. Also, the procedure of release from the Shelter and boarding the official vehicle was monitored. The foreigner had no objections to the treatment of police officers, nor did he state any circumstances that would indicate the danger that his human rights could be violated or endangered upon his return to his country of origin.
Cooperation with the police officers during the supervision was, as before, very professional.
