Today, on International Human Rights Day, Mr. Zoran Pašalić, the Protector of Citizens, has said that human rights may be protected most efficiently and completely by respecting particularities of every society and its historical, cultural and social diversity.
“No decision or attitude can be copied and be the same in every individual situation, but apart from particularity of every individual case, it is necessary to respect the particularity of every society, its historical, cultural and social diversity”, Mr. Pašalić said at the Conference “Effective implementation of the European Convention on Human Rights with focus on execution of judgments delivered by the European Court of Human Rights”.
“It is up to us to adapt right to life and needs of our citizens and to interpret it in that way, therefore, this is how judgments by the European Court of Human Rights should be observed, interpreted and considered,” said Pašalić at the Conference organized by the Council of Europe, with analytical retrospective of several ECHR’s judgements.
The Protector of Citizens reminded that Paris Principles bind all national human rights institutions to promote the execution of international human rights instruments and ratified treaties which is why these institutions have an important role to play in the process of executing the judgements of the European Court of Human Rights.
